Harbourmaster's House

Located on Hot Pot Wynd, next to Dysart Harbour, the Harbourmaster's House dates from the 17th C and comprises two storeys and a basement, with a prominent forestair and traditional terracotta pantiles. Now owned by Fife Council, it has provided a headquarters and visitor centre for Fife Coast and Countryside Trust since 2006, when it was subject to a 1 million refurbishment. Opened by Gordon Brown (b.1951), this was Fife's first coastal centre. Interactive displays include a tour of Dysart and the history of the region, together with an explanation of the importance of trade across the North Sea. The Trust also operates a bistro and shop within the building. The Harbourmaster's House was Category B-listed in 1971.
