Xscape Braehead

Xscape Braehead is a leisure and entertainment complex located in a separate teardrop-shaped building to the northwest of the main Braehead Shopping Centre, a half-mile (1 km) east of Renfrew. Opened in 2006, it comprises a twelve-screen cinema including a 3D IMAX screen, ten-pin bowling alley, together with Climbzone - a climbing wall and aerial adventure course - and Snow Factor, the longest indoor ski slope in Britain. Climbzone claims to include the highest indoor freestanding climbing wall in Europe, with numerous routes of increasing difficulty extending to 7a. Snow Factor benefits from year-round real snow spread over a small beginners slope and the 200-m (656-feet) long main slope, used for skiing, snowboarding and tobogganing, and serviced by two button tows. The inside of Snow Factor is retained at between -3 and -5 °C. The building includes numerous food outlets and a few sports-oriented shops and is managed by the London-based X-Leisure group, in conjunction with Intu Properties Plc.
