Committee Road

The Committee Road is a narrow unclassified road (C83), with passing places, which cuts across the desolate moorland in the NW of North Uist for 4 miles (6.5 km), connecting Claddach Kyles with Malaclate. It was constructed as a work creation project c.1846 to give an income to destitute crofters who had suffered following a potato famine.
