A summit deep within the Eskdalemuir Forest of NE Dumfries and Galloway, Moat Hill rises just beyond 350m (1148 feet) between the Rae Burn and Archie Grain, a half-mile (1 km) northwest of Raeburnhead. A Roman road passes to the southeast.
