Representing the University of Glasgow's principal indoor sports centre, the Stevenson Building is located on Oakfield Avenue, part of the main Gilmorehill Campus, 1¼ miles (2 km) west northwest of the city centre. The facility includes an activity hall, fitness suite, exercise studio, two squash courts, sauna and steam room, and a six-lane 25m swimming pool. A £13.4-million extension to provide social and additional sports facilities was completed in 2015. Known as the Stevenson Hive Building, this five floor structure extends to 4191 sq. m (45,111 sq. feet) and includes a nightclub and a four court multi-purpose activity hall with viewing gallery.
