Carn Dearg

A Corbett peak in the Lochaber district of Highland Council Area, Carn Dearg is located at the western end of the Monadhliath Mountains, rising to 815m (2673 feet) 3¾ miles (6 km) east of Laggan and 4 miles (6.5 km) southeast of Invergarry. Confusingly, although perhaps not surprisingly given that the name simply means 'red hill' in Gaelic, there are several other Carn Deargs in the vicinity; one reaching 768m / 2519 feet 1¼ miles (2 km) to the south southeast, another which rises to 834m (2736 feet) 5 miles (8 km) south, a third at 888m / 2913 feet 5½ miles (9 km) to the southeast and a fourth which reaches 736m (2414 feet) 8½ miles (14 km) east.
