South Annsmuir Wood

A section of the Edensmuir Forest in Central Fife, South Annsmuir Wood is an area of woodland located immediately to the northeast of Ladybank. Protected by the Woodland Trust and extending to 55.6 ha (137 acres), it mostly comprises Scots pine (planted as commercial timber in 1944 and 1972) together with an avenue of old Beech trees, suggesting drives or hedging in former times. The woodland is noted for its red squirrels, while bird-life includes Great spotted and Green woodpeckers. South Annsmuir Wood is separated from North Annsmuir Wood by the Ladybank Golf Course.
