Craighalbert Centre

(Scottish Centre for Children with Motor Impairments)

The Craighalbert Centre (or the Scottish Centre for Children with Motor Impairments) is a special school located in Craigmarloch (Cumbernauld, North Lanarkshire) for the provision of education and specialist therapy to young people (from birth to 19 years) affected by cerebral palsy and similar neurological conditions from all parts of Scotland. The purpose-built centre opened in 1993 and has been extended twice; a hydrotherapy pool opened in 2000 and an outreach centre was completed in 2002. The 10m by 5.6m (33 by 18 feet) pool is designed for classes of up to 12 children but is also used for introductory swimming lessons for the wider community.
