Mid Hill

An elongated whaleback in Dumfries and Galloway, Knocknahay rises to 82m (269 feet) in The Machars overlooking Tarf Water, 1½ miles (2.4 km) southwest of Kirkcowan. Mid Hill is a drumlin aligned NNE-SSW indicating the direction of ice flow and lies between two others (Barchly Hill and Place Hill) which form part of an extensive drumlin field. Mid Hill is not an uncommon name for a summit, and there are others nearby; just 2 miles (3 km) to the north northwest and 5 miles (8 km) to the west.
