Barlennan

A hogback in The Machars of Galloway, Barlennan rises to 55m (180 feet) within a loop of the Tarf Water, ¾ mile (1.2 km) east of Kirkcowan. This is part of an extensive drumlin field, and its principal axis is aligned N-S indicating the direction of ice flow. Confusingly, a more lofty Barlennan Hill is located just 1¼ miles (2 km) to the west southwest.
