The southeastern and larger part of a substantial drumlin in The Machars of Dumfries and Galloway, Knocknamad rises to 59m (193 feet) on the left bank of the River Bladnoch, a quarter-mile (0.4 km) north of Spittal and 2¾ miles (4.5 km) southeast of Kirkcowan.
