A drumlin in The Machars of Galloway, Boat Hill rises to just beyond 40m (131 feet) between the B733 road and the River Bladnoch, 2 miles (3 km) southeast of Kirkcowan. Aligned N-S indicating the direction of ice flow within an ancient glacier, this is part of an extensive drumlin field covering the area.
