Traigh Ban


(Tràigh Bhàn, Traigh Ban nam Monach, White Strand of the Monks)

A quiet sandy beach in the NE of the island of Iona in the Inner Hebrides, Traigh Ban (or 'white strand', sometimes Traigh Ban nam Monach or 'white strand of the monks') faces the Sound of Iona a mile (1.5 km) north northeast of Baile Mor. The beach extends for a half-mile (0.8 km), is studded with rocks and extends inland as low dunes.
