Orchard Hill

The northern section of a large drumlin in The Machars of Dumfries and Galloway, Orchard Hill rises to 78m (255 feet) 3 miles (5 km) west southwest of Wigtown. A secondary summit to the west reaches 75m (246 feet) and is named Green Hill on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map, while Clover Hill to the south reaches a similar height. This drumlin was deposited beneath an ancient glacier and its principal axis aligned NNE-SSW indicating the direction of ice flow.
