Auld Hill

A well-defined oval hillock in The Machars of Galloway, Auld Hill rises to 83m (272 feet) between Bar Fauld and Kiln Hill, 3 miles (5 km) east of Kirkcowan. This is part of an extensive drumlin field, and has its principal axis aligned NNW-SSE indicating the direction of ice flow within an ancient glacier. Confusingly, there is another Auld Hill located just a mile (1.6 km) to the south southwest.
