Elspeth's Hill

A conical hillock located to the north of the River Bladnoch in The Machars of Dumfries and Galloway, Elspeth's Hill rises steeply to 51m (328 feet) to the east of Little Torhouse, 2½ miles (4 km) west of Wigtown. It is unnamed on modern Ordnance Survey maps, but it is situated a quarter-mile (0.5 km) southeast of Jamie's Hill, and one would like to think the pair were named for a romantically-entangled couple. Both are drumlins, part of an extensive drumlin field which occupies this area.
