Windy Hill

A hogback in The Machars of Galloway, Windy Hill rises to 81m (265 feet) on the western edge of Wigtown. This is one of a number of drumlins in this area, aligned NNW-SSE indicating the direction of glacial flow. There is a covered reservoir close to its summit, which supplies the town with drinking water, and a cemetery on its northwestern slopes, but most notable is the prominent Martyrs' Monument at the summit.
