Prince Arthur's Cairn

One of a fine collection of commemorative cairns within the policies of Balmoral Castle in Aberdeenshire, Prince Arthur's Cairn is located on the northern slopes of Craig Gowan, a half-mile (0.8 km) south of the Castle. This haystack-shaped cairn was built to celebrate the marriage of Prince Arthur, Duke of Connaught and Strathearne to Princess Louise Margaret of Prussia on the 13th March 1870. Arthur was Queen Victoria's third son.
