An elongated hogback in The Machars of Galloway, Gowk Hill rises to 89m (291 feet) at California, to the south of the B7021 road, 1½ miles (2.5 km) west northwest of Whithorn. This is one of a number of drumlins in this area, aligned NNE-SSW suggesting the direction of flow of an ancient ice sheet.
