Hillsborough

A hillock in The Machars of Galloway, Hillsborough rises to 52m (170 feet) a half-mile (0.8 km) southeast of Sorbie. This is one of a number of drumlins in this area and is unusual in that its principal axis is aligned W-E indicating a direction of ice flow which contrasts with other drumlins located to the west (aligned NE-SW) and those immediately to the east (aligned NW-SE).
