Little Airies Hill

A summit in The Machars of Galloway, Little Airies Hill rises to 70m (229 feet) 1¼ miles (2 km) southeast of Whauphill and 1½ miles (2.5 km) northwest of Sorbie. The hill takes its name from the nearby farm, rather than Airies Hill, located ¾ mile (1.3 km) to the west and of lesser height. Both hills are part of an extensive drumlin field, with their principal axes aligned SSW-NNE indicating the direction of ice flow of an ancient glacier.
