Knockalanny

A well-defined drumlin in The Machars of Dumfries and Galloway, Knockalanny rises to just beyond 140m (459 feet) within plantation forest, a quarter-mile (0.5 km) southeast of Loch Heron and 1¼ miles (2 km) northwest of Barskeoch Fell. This teardrop-shaped hillock is one of a number of drumlins in this area, with its principal axis aligned NNE-SSW indicating the direction of ice flow within an ancient glacier.
