Sgurr an Doire Leathain
(Sgùrr an Doire Leathain)
One of seven Munros on the South Glen Shiel ridge which extends to 9 miles (14 km) in length and is reported to be one of the finest Scottish mountain ranges, with its height only once dropping below 800m (2625 feet). It is also possible to complete the traverse in one day. Sgurr an Doire Leathain rises to a height of 1010m (3313 feet) in the W of the Highland Council area, 2½ miles (4 km) north of the Glenquoich Forest and 4½ miles (7 km) east northeast of Kinloch Hourn. Its name originates from Gaelic and means "peak of the broad thicket".
