Langside Valley extends for 3 miles (5 km) southwest from the Slitrig Water at Shankend, 6 miles (10 km) south of Hawick in the Scottish Borders. This remote valley contains the Langside Burn and is crossed at its entrance by the picturesque Shankend Viaduct.
