South Barnkirk Hill

A hogback summit in The Machars of Galloway, South Barnkirk Hill rises to 55m (180 feet) to the north of the A75 Trunk Road and a mile (1.5 km) west of Newton Stewart. This one of a number of drumlins hereabouts, with its principal axis aligned NW-SE indicating the direction of flow of a ice sheet which once covered this area.
