White Hill

One of several drumlins in surrounding Barskeoch Fell in The Machars of Dumfries and Galloway, White Hill rises to 128m (419 feet), although is of considerably less prominence, 2½ miles (4 km) northwest of Kirkcowan. It is recorded on the First Edition of the Ordnance Survey map as The White Hill of Fell End. Deposited under an ancient glacier, the hillock is aligned NNE-SSW indicating the direction of ice flow. There are several other drumlins named White Hill nearby, the closest being 2 miles (3 km) to the north.
