Black Hill

A hillock of limited prominence in The Machars of Dumfries and Galloway, Black Hill rises to 89m (291 feet) between blocks of plantation forest on Drumdow Moss 3 miles (5 km) southwest of Kirkcowan. This is a drumlin, one of a number of drumlins hereabouts, with its principal axis aligned NE-SW suggesting the direction of flow of an ancient ice sheet.
