Policies Lake

The larger of a pair of shallow ornamental lakes on the Douglas Estate in South Lanarkshire, Policies Lake lies 1¼ miles (2 km) northeast of the village of Douglas. Its pair is Stable Lake, located a half-mile (1 km) to the southwest. Between the two is a more recent floodwater reservoir, connected by a channel to the Douglas Water. The remains of a boathouse lie on its southwestern shore, once used for fishing. Recreational fishing is now available to local people.
