(Hillhead of Auquhirie Wind Farm)

Hill of Auquhirie is a small wind farm in SE Aberdeenshire, situated 2¾ miles (4.5 km) east northeast of Drumlithie and 3½ miles (5.5 km) west southwest of Stonehaven. Sometimes known as Hillhead of Auquhirie Wind Farm, it comprises three Enercon E-70 turbines, each generating 2.3 MW of electricity, which represents a total power output of 6.9 MW. Each turbine has blades which are 71m (232 feet) in diameter, giving an overall height to blade-tip of 92.5m (303 feet). The farm was developed by Cheshire-based Blue Energy with £10 million of funding from the Cooperative Bank. It was Blue Energy's first operational wind farm in Scotland and provides a community fund that benefits local groups and projects. Clochnahill Wind Farm lies immediately to the west.
