Bennan of Kirkcalla

A hill in NW Dumfries and Galloway, Bennan of Kirkcalla has two summits which rise to 168m (554 feet) and 166m (544 feet) respectively, a quarter-mile (0.5 km) west of Kirkcalla and a mile (1.5 km) south of the border with South Ayrshire. Its northern flank is steep and rocky, but there is a distinct tail to the south. Loch Bennan lies in a gap to the north, and beyond is another summit - nameless on Ordnance Survey maps and composed of glacial till - which rises to 154m (505 feet).
