Auchenshuggle Bridge

A single-span road bridge which crosses the River Clyde between Glasgow City and South Lanarkshire, the Auchenshuggle Bridge opened in 2011 and carries the six-lane extension to the M74 motorway, to the southwest of Auchenshuggle and 1¼ miles (2 km) east northeast of Rutherglen. With a span of 90m (295 feet), the concrete deck is supported on seven steel box girders slung between reinforced concrete abutments. The girders weigh between 250 and 330 tonnes each and were lifted into place using Europe's largest mobile crane. Construction was the responsibility of Sir Robert McAlpine Ltd.
