Bargeddie Railway Station

A suburban halt on the Whifflet Line in North Lanarkshire, Bargeddie Railway Station (Gael: Bàrr Geadaidh) lies on the southeastern edge of Bargeddie, a mile (1.5 km) west northwest of Kirkwood. The first station here opened in 1871 but then lines closed in 1966. The present station opened in 1993 and is operated by ScotRail. Bargeddie is unstaffed, with two platforms and modern passenger shelters in a shallow cutting. It was used by 85,806 passengers per annum (2009-10) but this number had grown to 114,912 by 2016-17. It is preceded by Kirkwood Railway Station, a mile (1.5 km) to the east, and followed by Baillieston, 1½ miles (2.5 km) to the west southwest.
