Mount Vernon Railway Station

A two-platform suburban railway station on the Whifflet Line in Glasgow City, Mount Vernon (known as Cnoc Vernon in Gaelic) is located a half-mile (1 km) east southeast of Mount Vernon and a similar distance west of Broomhouse. This station opened in 1866 on the Rutherglen and Coatbridge Railway. This line closed in 1966 but was reopened in 1993, when the current station was built. Operated by ScotRail, Mount Vernon Railway Station is unstaffed and was used by 66,828 passengers per annum (2016-17). It is preceded by Baillieston Railway Station, a mile (1.5 km) to the east northeast, and followed by Carmyle, a similar distance to the west southwest.
