Pollokshaws West Railway Station (referred to as Pollokshaws an Iar in Gaelic) is a suburban halt on the Glasgow South Western Line, located on the southeastern edge of Pollok Country Park, a half-mile (1 km) north of Mansewood in Glasgow City. This station opened as Pollokshaws on the Glasgow, Barrhead & Neilston Direct Railway in 1848 and was renamed Pollokshaws West in 1952. Now operated by ScotRail, Pollokshaws West Railway Station is unstaffed and was used by 146,428 passengers per annum in 2016-17, a significant increase in numbers from 90,866 in 2009-10. It is preceded by Crossmyloof, a mile (1.5 km) to the northeast, and followed by Kennishead Railway Station, 1¼ miles (2 km) to the southwest. The line splits at Busby Junction, a half-mile (1 km) to the southwest, with a branch going to East Kilbride on which the following station is Thornliebank, a mile (1.5 km) to the south southwest.
