Dunglass Island

A riverine island within the River Conon, Dunglass Island is located a half-mile (1 km) southwest of Conon Bridge. Although uninhabited, it is farmed and vehicle access is via a bridge from Dunglass in the west. Embankments have been constructed around the edge of the island to protect it from flooding. The island extends to 40.5 ha / 100 acres and reaches a height of 8m (26 feet) above sea level on one of these embankments, whereas the maximum height elsewhere is 6m (20 feet).
