An old heart-shaped woodland lying ¾-mile (1.2 km) southwest of Aberfeldy in Perth & Kinross, the Heart of Scotland is a long-established claimant to being at the geographical centre of Scotland. The location varies depending on the method of calculation and whether or not islands are included. This point would disregard islands, while another marked by the Centre of Scotland Stone, 31 miles / 50 km to the north northwest, takes both the northern and western islands into account. Another method of calculation puts the point at White Bridge, 3 miles / 5 km east of Schiehallion.
