Kintail

A district of Wester Ross between Loch Duich and Loch Long, Kintail is one of the finest stretches of mountain scenery in northwest Scotland. An area of 7,431 ha (18,362 acres), including Morvich, has been owned by the National Trust for Scotland since 1944 and includes the Falls of Glomach and the Five Sisters of Kintail, four of which rise to heights in excess of 914m (3000 feet). Historically, Kintail is associated with the Mackenzies, who were Lords of Kintail before they became Earls of Seaforth, and with the Macraes who were their hereditary keepers of Eilean Donan Castle.
