St Baldred's Boat

A rock formation on the East Lothian coast, St Baldred's Boat is located to the east of Seacliff beach at the northern end of the Car Rocks. Submerged at high tide, it is marked by a stone beacon surmounted by a cross because it is a hazard to inshore shipping. A legend suggests the rock was moved closer to the shore by St. Baldred (d.757), who steered it like a boat, in order to make it less dangerous for fishermen.
