Blaven
(Bla Bheinn, Blà Bheinn)

A prominent mountain on the eastern edge of the Black Cuillin on the Isle of Skye in the Inner Hebrides, Blaven, (Gael: Bla Bheinn) rises to a height of 928m (3044 feet) at the head of Loch Slapin, 6 miles (10 km) west of Broadford. The Strathaird peninsula extends to the south and Blaven was part of the Strathaird Estate owned by Jethro Tull musician Ian Anderson, which was sold to the John Muir Trust in 1994. The greater part of the peak comprises dark-coloured gabbro rock.
