Scarp, an island in the Hebridean parish of Harris, Inverness-shire, ½ mile W of the nearest point of the island of Harris proper. Its length north-westward is 3 miles; and its greatest breadth is 2¼ miles. It consists chiefly of one mountain of gneiss rock, with little soil, and rising to an altitude of 1000 feet above sea-level. Pop. (1841) 129, (1861) 151, (1871) 156, (1881) 213. Scarsburgh.
