Parish of Cawdor

(Calder)

Cawdor is a parish, which lies in Highland Council Area, some 10 miles (15 km) south of Nairn and 12 miles (19 km) east of Inverness in Highland. It is also known as Calder.

It is located in the old county of Nairnshire, which disappeared following the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1974.

The parish has an area of 140.5 sq. km (54.2 sq. miles). Cawdor has 5 neighbouring parishes; namely Ardclach, Croy & Dalcross, Duthil & Rothiemurchus, Moy & Dalarossie and Nairn. The boundaries of this parish were modified among significant changes recommended by the Boundary Commissioners after the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1889.
