Parish of Ellon

Ellon is a parish, which lies in Aberdeenshire Council Area, some 9 miles (14 km) south of Mintlaw and 13 miles (21 km) northeast of Inverurie in Aberdeenshire.

It is located in the old county of Aberdeenshire, which disappeared following the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1974.

The parish has an area of 93.8 sq. km (36.2 sq. miles) and includes the settlement of Ellon. Ellon has 6 neighbouring parishes; namely Cruden, Logie Buchan, New Deer, Old Deer, Tarves and Udny. The boundaries of this parish were modified among significant changes recommended by the Boundary Commissioners after the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1889.
