Gartly is a parish, which lies in Aberdeenshire Council Area, some 4 miles (6 km) south of Huntly in Aberdeenshire and 11 miles (18 km) southeast of Keith in Moray.
It is located in the old county of Aberdeenshire, which disappeared following the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1974.
The parish has an area of 73 sq. km (28.2 sq. miles). Gartly has 7 neighbouring parishes; namely Cabrach, Drumblade, Glass, Huntly, Insch, Kennethmont and Rhynie. The boundaries of this parish were modified among significant changes recommended by the Boundary Commissioners after the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1889.
