Parish of Duthil and Rothiemurchus

Duthil and Rothiemurchus is a parish, which lies in Highland Council Area, some 14 miles (22 km) northeast of Kingussie in Highland and 22 miles (35 km) northwest of Braemar in Aberdeenshire.

It is located in the old county of Invernessshire, which disappeared following the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1974.

The parish has an area of 323.4 sq. km (124.8 sq. miles) and includes the settlement of Aviemore. Duthil and Rothiemurchus has 7 neighbouring parishes; namely Abernethy & Kincardine, Alvie, Ardclach, Cawdor, Crathie & Braemar, Cromdale Inverallan & Advie and Moy & Dalarossie. The boundaries of this parish were modified among significant changes recommended by the Boundary Commissioners after the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1889.
