Parish of Towie

Towie is a parish, which lies in Aberdeenshire Council Area, some 17 miles (28 km) south of Huntly in Aberdeenshire and 18 miles (28 km) southeast of Dufftown in Moray.

It is located in the old county of Aberdeenshire, which disappeared following the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1974.

The parish has an area of 68 sq. km (26.2 sq. miles). Towie has 7 neighbouring parishes; namely Cabrach, Glenbuchat, Kildrummy, Leochel-Cushnie, Logie-Coldstone, Strathdon and Tarland. The boundaries of this parish were modified among significant changes recommended by the Boundary Commissioners after the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1889.
