Parish of Tarland

Tarland is a parish, which lies in Aberdeenshire Council Area, some 15 miles (24 km) northwest of Banchory and 20 miles (32 km) southwest of Inverurie in Aberdeenshire.

It is located in the old county of Aberdeenshire, which disappeared following the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1974.

The parish has an area of 25.4 sq. km (9.8 sq. miles). Tarland has 4 neighbouring parishes; namely Coull, Leochel-Cushnie, Logie-Coldstone and Towie. The boundaries of this parish were modified among significant changes recommended by the Boundary Commissioners after the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1889.
