Parish of Banchory-DevenickBanchory-Devenick is a coastal parish, which lies in Aberdeenshire Council Area, some 5 miles (8 km) south of Aberdeen in Aberdeen City and 8 miles (14 km) north of Stonehaven in Aberdeenshire.
It is located in the old county of Kincardineshire, which disappeared following the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1974.
The parish has an area of 31.3 sq. km (12 sq. miles) and includes the settlement of Portlethen. Banchory-Devenick has 5 neighbouring parishes; namely Aberdeen, Fetteresso, Maryculter, Nigg and Peterculter. The boundaries of this parish were modified among significant changes recommended by the Boundary Commissioners after the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1889.
