Parish of Greenock

Greenock is a coastal parish, which lies in Inverclyde Council Area, some 3 miles (5 km) west of Port Glasgow in Inverclyde and 5 miles (8 km) south of Helensburgh in Argyll and Bute.

It is located in the old county of Renfrewshire, which disappeared following the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1974.

The parish has an area of 24.7 sq. km (9.5 sq. miles) and includes the settlement of Greenock. Greenock has Inverkip, Kilmacolm and Port Glasgow as its neighbouring parishes. The boundaries of this parish were modified as a consequence of the Local Government (Scotland), 1894.
