Parish of Currie

Currie is a parish, which lies in the City of Edinburgh Council Area, some 6 miles (9 km) northwest of Penicuik in Midlothian and 7 miles (11 km) east of Livingston in West Lothian.

It is located in the old county of Midlothian, which disappeared following the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1974.

The parish has an area of 51.6 sq. km (19.9 sq. miles). Currie has 6 neighbouring parishes; namely Edinburgh, Kirknewton, Mid Calder, Penicuik, Ratho and West Linton. The boundaries of this parish were modified among significant changes recommended by the Boundary Commissioners after the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1889.
