Parish of Old Monkland

Old Monkland is a parish, which lies on the River Clyde in North Lanarkshire Council Area, some 7 miles (10 km) southwest of Cumbernauld in North Lanarkshire and 6 miles (10 km) north of Hamilton in South Lanarkshire.

It is located in the old county of Lanarkshire, which disappeared following the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1974.

The parish has an area of 45.6 sq. km (17.6 sq. miles) and includes the settlement of Coatbridge. Old Monkland has 4 neighbouring parishes; namely Bothwell, Cadder, Glasgow and New Monkland.
